Basic Blacksmithing
BUILD-DESTROY-BUILD THURSDAYS
For Ages 10-17:Â
Blacksmithing is heating pieces of wrought iron or steel until the metal becomes soft enough for shaping with hand tools, such as a hammer, anvil and chisel.
Heating generally takes place in a forge fueled by propane, natural gas, coal, charcoal, or oil.
Learn to bend and shape steel by drawing, bending, punching, drifting and using a forge and anvil in order to complete a number of small projects such as bracelets, triangles, hooks, spoons and more.
